通常你在網路上看到動態圖，叫做 Graphics Interchange Format，簡稱 "GIF"。GIF 的誕生，可謂 IT 界一大福音！因為 GIF 檔案細小, 放在網頁也不會拖慢速度。"GIF" 更加獲牛津字典評選為「2012年度最佳詞語」 (“Word of the Year”) 但是...你會怎麼讀 "GIF" 這個字呢? 讀 "JIF" 還是讀 "GIF" ?

How do you pronounce GIF?  Hard G (like gift) or soft G (like jif)? It is a question that may create tension in friendships and divides families...Recently, Stack Overflow forum posed the question to 50,000 people in 200 countries, and found that hard g wins out. While 65 % went for the hard g, only 26 % go for the soft g. Now, what should be the correct pronunciation then?

  

想不到 GIF 的讀音竟然激起網民熱烈爭論，而衍生了 "GIF" 派 和 "JIF" 派。根據 Stack Overflow 調查，在 200 國家隨機抽樣訪問了50,000 人，發現近 65% 認為 "GIF" 的 G 是重音，讀 "GIF"（粵音: 「劫乎」），只有 26% 認為G是輕聲, 讀 "JIF"（粵音: 「接乎」）。而在亞洲地區，如中國和韓國則讀 "G-I-F" （粵音: 「知-挨-誒乎」）。

到底為什麼有人讀 GIF, 有人讀 JIF 呢?

在某些語系, 例如西班牙語和芬蘭語沒有輕聲 G 的發音，所以他們會讀 GIF；相反在阿拉伯語，則沒有重音 G 的發音而讀 JIF。

但亦有網民認為，由於 GIF 是 "Graphics Interchange Format" 的簡稱, 所以應該以 Graphics 的前半讀音作準。

那麼正確讀音應該是什麼呢？
